Class 201: Star Dance (Encore)

Teacher: Margaret Bendig

Star Dance is a study in the difference in the use of a single color using different threads, stitches, direction of stitches, and the reflection of light to create. The original is stitched with Soie d’Alger silk and some specialty threads.  The center star is a revolving set of patterns with metallic threads to add to the definition of the stitches. The background of the design is composed of many different star patterns using two values of blue silk with the addition white Sparkle Rays. This slice of the sky reminds me of the early morning sky along the central West Coast as the dawn is breaking and the stars are beginning to fade into the day.
