CLASS PROFICIENCY LEVELS

Please read class descriptions carefully and select classes that fit your skills and abilities. Stretch yourself—but please be realistic!

Basic—can thread a needle, begin and end threads, knows basic stitches of technique, can read and use diagrams and charts.

Basic Intermediate—has had class instruction, understands basic compensation, can work several decorative stitches including on the diagonal, works with diagrams and charts with confidence.

Intermediate—has had several workshops or classes, uses a variety of threads, confidently works complicated stitches from diagrams and is comfortable with compensating them, has worked numerous different needlework techniques on a counted ground.

Advanced Intermediate—has participated in numerous workshops or classes, confidently stitches diagonal patterns, has worked a wide variety of different needlework techniques on counted ground.

Advanced—has participated in a wide variety of formal workshops and has experience with many different types of grounds and threads; is interested in developing skills and pursuing solutions to problems in design, color and techniques, is interested in developing original designs, colors and/or styles.

All levels—all students may take this class.

CLASS SUPPLIES

The “usual stitching supplies” means your basic needlework items such as needles, scissors, laying tool, frame or frame weights, various tools, beading supplies, orts container, etc. Bring light and magnification if you need it—don’t forget an extension cord. You are expected to bring the supplies requested by the teacher for each class you attend. You will receive a letter from your teacher(s) outlining these supplies and what your kit(s) will include. There will be a Seminar boutique but it is not required to stock everything students need for every class. In addition, you will miss classroom instruction time if you do not have the necessary supplies when class starts.

DRESS

Dallas is generally warm in June but air-conditioned classrooms can be chilly. Please plan accordingly. Dress is casual and comfortable.
