Explore the do's and don'ts for selection of fabrics and trims. Learn finishing techniques, including the use of pins, adhesives, machine stitching and hand sewing. Fast & Fun Finishing includes a brief overview by a certified judge on the importance of the finishing methods used for non-framed items when entering a judged competition. Kit includes four demo canvases, fabric, trim, batting, finishing form, finishing stand, Styrofoam egg/ball, threads, and miscellaneous supplies to be used in class.

Class Number: 302
Teacher: Carole Lake
Class: Stash Attack

This class is intended for the student who feels overwhelmed by the number of WIP's in her closet (WIP=Work in Progress). But this isn't just Studio Time. This is Intervention Time! How many projects do you have that you're stuck on? It could be:
  • a class project for which you can't figure out the directions
  • a charted project to which you want to make changes
  • a painted canvas where you can't decide how to do the beard
  • a project of your own design with color issues
  • a project that needs a lift with new threads
  • a project with an 'unfixable' problem: can this piece be saved?
  • a painted canvas that you just don't know how to start
  • a background that just isn't working
In this intense class, we will concentrate on getting projects on track for completion. Students may bring one or as many unfinished projects as they want. Stitching will be done in class. The teacher's task is to work individually through demonstration and brainstorming with each student to provide a solution to each problem project.

Bring: Unfinished project(s), B&W photocopies or the unfinished
project for planning, pencil with eraser, 4 or 5 squares per
inch gridded tablet, colored pencils, usual stitching

Bring any design that you have previously studied with Tony and he will be there to answer your questions and help you with further studies for the design. Of course you can bring more than one piece, if you choose.
