CONSERVATION
LECTURE: Preserving Keepsakes
with
Ivette Ray and Rena Lawrence
Memories may
last forever, but our treasured keepsakes need a little help (especially
those stored in cedar chests)! Join Log Cabin Village Curator,
Ivette Ray and Educator, Rena Lawrence in an interactive session
about preserving, storing, and displaying cherished textiles.
Attendees will learn principles of preservation and how to apply
them to their own textiles. Ms. Ray and Ms. Lawrence will highlight
the leading causes of deterioration and demonstrate specific folding,
rolling, hanging, and framing methods. The presenters will show
museum quality storage boxes and packing materials, and participants
will learn where to purchase these materials and whom to consult
when their beloved textile needs professional attention. Don't
miss this exciting opportunity to learn how to keep your memories
intact!
