Artist Eye View - Needlepoint Mounting & Framing
 

After all those hour spent on stitching, shouldn't your needleart be framed to best compliment and keep your work of art protected for many lifetimes? Bring a completed piece for a framing consultation from an "Artists Eye View". Robin will discuss the effects that different color values of mats have on a piece, as well as different choices of frames and glass. Appropriate framing methods, mounting, and conservation framing will also be discussed.

Mitered Corner & Hemstitching
 

Using 25-count evenweave linen, a single mitered corner, which will then become a notebook reference, will be done, after doing a practice doodle on paper. The technique of holding the hem in place with hemstitching, a pulled stitch technique, will be mastered. A copy of Marion's
publication, Hemstitching, will be included with a refund of the wholesale cost to anyone who brings their own!

Lacing & Framing
 

The Royal School method of lacing and framing will be demonstrated. Students may bring a piece of their work to be laced: needlepoint, counted or crewel, with a piece of foam-core cut to the correct size and a spool of Button and Carpet thread. After the "generic" demonstration, each will work on their own lacing. A towel will be needed to place on the table. The work must have been blocked (if necessary) and brought rolled up. Written instructions will be provided.
