Eye View - Needlepoint Mounting & Framing |
|
|
| |
|
After
all those hour spent on stitching, shouldn't your needleart
be framed to best compliment and keep your work of art protected
for many lifetimes? Bring a completed piece for a framing consultation
from an "Artists Eye View". Robin will discuss the
effects that different color values of mats have on a piece,
as well as different choices of frames and glass. Appropriate
framing methods, mounting, and conservation framing will also
be discussed.

Using 25-count
evenweave linen, a single mitered corner, which will then become
a notebook reference, will be done, after doing a practice doodle
on paper. The technique of holding the hem in place with hemstitching,
a pulled stitch technique, will be mastered. A copy of Marion's
publication, Hemstitching, will be included with a refund of
the wholesale cost to anyone who brings their own!

| Lacing
& Framing |
|
|
|

The Royal
School method of lacing and framing will be demonstrated. Students
may bring a piece of their work to be laced: needlepoint, counted
or crewel, with a piece of foam-core cut to the correct size
and a spool of Button and Carpet thread. After the "generic"
demonstration, each will work on their own lacing. A towel will
be needed to place on the table. The work must have been blocked
(if necessary) and brought rolled up. Written instructions will
be provided.
